Digital Photography as diagnostic aid

One of the most important tools I use in my practice today is digital photography.
It is the best way of enhancing diagnostic skills, improving patient communications and education, and illustrating before and after treatment of similar problems and improving my communication with my ceramist.

Dr. Bloom uses a high resolution Cannon-digital camera system, the images taken are in high resolution, and have tremendous diagnostic importance and relevance—Dr. Bloom photographs every patient in the initial evaluation, and when treatment is completed. They say, a picture is worth a thousand words, when patients tell us they’re not happy with their smile, but find it hard to describe what they want, showing them before and after photographs opens up the dialogue. Dr. Bloom also uses photography to communicate the specifications to my outside lab in Athens with regards to shade, texture, and contour. He also has a bit of fun with his professional portrait studio, loves taking glamour shots of patients after treatment is completed.

“I love capturing their energy and excitement as they smile for the camera. This has been a great deal of fun both for me and my patients!”
