They are frequently combined with dental implants to help preserve the bone and give a solid, secure fit.The majority of the dentures made in this country do not fit properly and do not have teeth set in the right place. The common techniques for fabricating dentures have some weaknesses that lead to ill-fitting and unattractive dentures.
These are:
- A static impression is taken to make the denture. This is an impression taken with no movement in the mouth which leads to many sore spots when the denture is delivered.
- Denture teeth are set in a laboratory by a technician not in the mouth for esthetics and speech pattern.
- Most processing of dentures in the laboratory have a 10% shrinkage of the acrylic. This leads to an inaccurate fit of the denture no matter how precise the impression was.
Dr. Bloom sets the denture teeth in the mouth for esthetics and proper speech pattern. Now the teeth look like they fit there. A functional impression is taken using a material called hydrocast. It is like the flow in a ski-boot to conform and give you a perfect custom fit. And finally, the laboratory that Dr. Bloom uses has a precision processing that has no shrinkage of the acrylic in the process. This leads to beautiful, functional dentures.
